Upcoming Events
The University of Calgary's ASCD Student Chapter will be hosting the following three professional development opportunities for Faculty of Education students. All PD events are free for current ASCD members and $5 per session for non-members.
Session One: Mathematics for All
February 5th 4:30 to 6:00 pm
Room: EDT 1314
Dr. Sharon Friesen:
Co-founder and President of the Galileo Educational Network
Today, mathematics education faces two major challenges: raising the floor by expanding achievement for all, and lifting the ceiling of achievement to better prepare future leaders in mathematics. At first glance, these appear to be mutually exclusive. But are they? Is it possible to design learning that engages the vast majority of students in higher mathematics learning?
Session Two: Delving into Differentiation - teaching strategies so that each may learn
March 26th 4:30 to 6:00 pm
Room: EDT 1314
Michele McGill:
Visiting Professor from University of Southern Queensland
We continually hear and say all learners learn differently, but what does
this mean? This 'hands on' workshop will explore some of the strategies
for the differentiation of the processes and products for learning.
